Hello everyone,
I am Vimukthi from Sri Lanka, and I am a scholarship holder starting my studies at UNECON soon. I have a few questions regarding my arrival and initial stay:
-
Buddy System: Is there a buddy system or any service available to help international students like me with transportation from the airport to the university? If so, how can I arrange for a buddy to pick me up, and what are the associated costs, if any?
-
Accommodation Before Registration: Do I need to arrange temporary accommodation before registering at the university? If so, what are the recommended options and the typical costs involved?
-
Registration Procedure: Could someone please guide me through the registration procedure for new international students? Any tips on what documents I should have ready and the steps to follow would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Best regards,
Vimukthi
Hello!
1. It is better to check with your university representatives, as everything is individual.
2. After arriving in Russia, you have 7 working days to make a temporary registration. You cannot live without registration for more than 7 working days, otherwise you will violate the rules of stay of a foreign citizen in the Russian Federation. If the university does not register you within these 7 working days, then in this case you need to find a place for registration yourself - it can be any hotel or hostel (when you check in, they provide foreign citizens with a temporary registration for the period of paid days of stay). Keep in mind that you must have a valid registration in any other location while the university is making a registration for you.
3. You need passport with your student visa and migration card (you will be given it when you go through border control in Russia)
